Ditch Script Editor and AppleScript in favor of Ruby
If you're confused by AppleScript, wish you could use something else to make OS X applications jump through hoops, or just aren't a fan of it for whatever reason (and I can think of a few), don't despair. There are several ways to completely bypass AppleScript without loss of functionality.
